Activity: Learning Outcome 1, First Practice
I played a lot of volleyball my freshman year of high school. I was team Capitan of our freshman team at Heights High School, and we would spend hours there getting ready for the season. There we would train all day, taking a break for lunch, then going back for more practice. After moving my sophomore year to Post Oak, I decided not to play any sports, focusing more on academia. I think in hindsight, it's a decision I regret because I had grown a great deal in terms of my volleyball skills during my time at Heights. This year I decided to play volleyball again, and yesterday we had out first practice. A lot of it felt very natural, and I knew what I needed to do, but I felt really messy on court. I think it's always hard to try something that you used to be good at, because it's there in your head but it doesn't seem to come naturally. I was really frustrated, but so happy to be playing again.
During this experience I related with Learning Outcome 1, because I was able to identify my strengths in teamwork and fitness, while also clearly seeing where I need to develop in terms of my technique. This first practice made me really excited for the season!
