Service: Learning Outcome 6, Climate Protest

World Climate Day happened last week, and I attended the protest. It had been raining pretty hard all week, and I was worried that it would affect the outcome of the protest. In significance of the day, I decided that I wouldn't drive my car, and that I would only bike and bus to different locations throughout the day. I rode the bus to a friends house, and then we rode our bikes downtown for the protest. Out worries about the weather were confirmed as storm clouds rolled in and the sky opened up. It was pouring by the time we got to the front of city hall for the protest. A big group of people left, and the rest of us stood with homemade posters over our heads trying to shield ourselves from the rain. We helped to set up for the rest of the protest, working along side groups that had come. It was tempting to leave, but it was also kind of ironic that it was raining this badly. Houston had just been through Imelda, and now it was raining again. It was the perfect example of what climate change is doing to our world, and experiencing that first hand was an eye opening experience.
I relate this to learning outcome six because I was able to connect global warming to global significance.
