Activity: Learning Outcome 7, Giving up Yoga
January 28, 2021
At the beginning of the month I was committed to doing 30 days of yoga for the second time. I was really excited for this, because I felt like over quarantine I hadn't had any continuous activity. I was looking forward to the routine of going to the studio over and over again and getting stronger again.
The first week turned out to be really hard, and I ended up juggling too many things at once. I was golfing everyday, trying to do yoga everyday, and also wanted to be improving at rock climbing. My body was hurting- I was waking up painfully sore everyday, and felt tied all the time.
On top of that I was worried about corona. In the yoga studios nobody was wearing their masks because it was heated yoga, and I always felt uncomfortable when people were taking off their masks in the studio. My studio offered some outdoor classes, but they kept being moved inside due to the cold January weather.
After week two I made the decision to give up the yoga, which was a really hard choice. I felt like I had given up, but I knew it was the right choice to make because of corona and because I needed a rest. And I think it was a good choice in the long run. I've been running outside and climbing more, which all feel very safe unlike the yoga studio. I learned a lot from this decision- it definitely made me think more about the individuals responsibility about the Covid Crisis.
